Celebration (s)
Not just one day.... A few days of celebrations (or partial ones) anyways.....
However, during most of these times, Owen was really been under the weather... BOO!!
So at daycare, they made him a card gave him a book as a gift!! I thought that it was pretty great!!!! They sang happy birthday to him and he loved it! It was such a great day for him at daycare.
When he came home, he was pretty cranky, he ate a HUGE meal, but then was still extremely cranky and really, had a HUGE meltdown.
Andrew had made him a cake-- and we were going to try it out.. Unfortunately Owen had other plans-- Which definitely did not include cake.
The following day my we had my family come down. Owen seemed to be in better spirits, so we figured we would try the cake again!!!! This time was more successful! He actually lasted until cake time, and he actually enjoyed some of it!
He enjoyed this evening a little better than his actual birthday. He also did not mind the extremely-horribly off key ( I am not even lying here, it was HONESTLY THE WORST F-ING singing I have EVER HEARD IN MY WHOLE LIFE) Happy Birthday to you!! I think he just LOVED it!
Then Saturday was when he had his birthday party!!! I was pretty worried that he was not going to be able to make it through the day, but boy did he ever surprise me, and with only a teeny tiny nap to boot!
See we live a very quiet low key life, Owie sometimes gets a little overwhelmed when there are many people around, or if it is loud, so I was sure, this was going to be a disaster....... Fabulous, he was fabulous!
We held his birthday party at his Grammy's who has a pool and a bit more space than us. Since his birthday is in the wonderful heat of the summer we decided that it would be great to have it at a pool, and outside. We do not have much of a back yard yet, as we are having difficulty coming to a concrete decision on what we are going to be doing with the backyard, as well, being on Mat. Leave for a year (between the both of us) and us not having that special money tree that grows in our yard, we have yet to finish our backyard...
We arrived at Grammy's in the morning to set up. I knew it would be a long day, setting up, trying to enjoy, then cleaning up, and driving home, and we were all exhausted to say the least. But it really turned out to be a great day!
We were surrounded by many friends and family and are truly grateful and blessed that we have these folks in our lives and that they were able to join us in the celebration of our little man's first birthday! I hope I can speak for many by saying that it was a good day had by all!
Thanks for making his big day a special one!
